Report of Heritage Warranty Risk Retention Group assets being seized

Automotive News is reporting that the South Carolina Department of Insurance is seizing the assets of Heritage Warranty Risk Retention Group.

No news of this is posted on the South Carolina Department of Insurance web site yet. More to come.

Update 7/28/08: The Automotive News report says that the South Carolina Department of Insurance filed suit against Heriage Warranty Risk Retention Group asking a state court to shut down the company and turn over its property to the Department of Insurance.

I sent an email to Ann Roberson, Public Information Officer for the South Carolina Department of Insurance, asking her if there was any information she could provide me on this. Her response was “I do not have any iinformation regarding your request for information.”

An email to Scott Richardson, Director of the South Carolina Department of Insurance, went unanswered.

The hunt for information goes on.

Update: Read our latest information on Heritage here:

Note: I’m seeing a lot of visits from a network that looks like it’s the network for Heritage. I’d appreciate it if someone from Heritage would contact me so some of information I’m hearing can be clarified.

    Gregg,

I have currently been waiting approx 60 days for reimbursement. According to my contract provisions, my contract is insured by Heritage Warranty Insurance Risk Retention Group, Inc. Appearantly since I purchased this contract in the state of Washington, I don’t have to wait the 60 days for reimbursement. Do you have any information or thoughts as to the route I should go to obtain reimbursement?

    Sincerely,

    Jerod

Is this the same Heritage Warranty Company that sells Auto extended warranties that is or was located in Dublin, Ohio. That company has not been reimbursing contract holders for authorized repairs. I’ve been on the internet researching this company and have found other people making the same complaints.

Paid $4,297 for 4/48 warranty from dealer in 5/05. Filed claim in 8/08 for authorized repair in the amount of $1,618.50. Received call from National Administrative Services (Gordon) that payment of a $4,750 premium for 3/36 new policy would provide reimbursement of submitted claim ($1,618.50). This is a rip off. My attorney is going to sue the dealer that sold the policy – he says good chance the dealer will pay the claim to avoid lawsuit.

I have a repair that would be under warranty. I’ve been reading websites since May 2008 trying to find out about Heritage. The dealer that sold me the car and warranty went out of business. Please contact me regarding any legal avenues that may arise against Heritage. Thanks, Brian

we have been getting the run around for 7 months now. We purchased a $5,000 refundable warrenty from Heritage. The dealer tells us that this company is in bankruptcy, but that they are paying out and to be patient. Heritage just blows us off. Should we take the dealer to small claims? Does the lender B of A have any responsibility? Anyone out there have any answers?

I would like to know about any class action taken against Heritage. I bought an extended warranty (paid over $5K) did receive an initial payout for some transmission work but subsequent claims have not been paid. Heritage hides behind an administrator so you cannot talk to anyone. I have also heard they could potentially be out of business. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Are they bankrupt?

I also have been left hanging with an auto repair bill from these people. I’d like to sue them and the “Third Party” they hired to shield them from us. Those folks are just as guilty as Heritage if you ask me. That company name is NASC, P. O. Box 2082, Devlin, OH 43017. They won’t even give you an address to write a complaint to Heritage. Does anyone know if Heritage has offices and if so, where – as in an address? If there are enough of us within driving distance and our cars are running (lol!) we can go to their office and wait on their laps while they cut us our checks!
